About Us
WhiteTubs is the Chicago brand of CityTub Inc. — a bathtub refinishing company that has been using the pour-on coating method since 2013. We restore worn, stained, chipped, or damaged bathtubs without demolition — keeping the tub in place, the tile untouched, and the plumbing as it is. The result: a bathroom that looks clean and bright again, without the mess or cost of replacement. We serve homeowners, condo owners, and property managers across Chicago — from Lakeview walk-ups to Loop high-rises to suburban single-family homes.
Where We Work
CityTub Inc. operates bathtub refinishing services in four major U.S. metro areas — Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Each market has its own local team and brand:
-
WhiteTubs — Chicago
-
New York Tubs — New York City
-
Los Angeles Tubs – Los Angeles
What We Do
We specialize in one method: pour-on, self-leveling coating. Not spray paint, not brush-on enamel — a single coating system that we’ve refined over thousands of jobs.
Pour-on works on most tub materials common in Chicago homes — cast iron, steel, porcelain, acrylic, and stone. It handles chips, stains, peeling, rough texture, and dull or yellowed surfaces.
If your tub has unusual conditions (previous coatings, unusual shape, structural damage), we’ll assess it on-site and tell you straight whether refinishing makes sense — or whether replacement is the better call.

Our Approach
Four things that make a difference on every job:
-
One coating system, one process. We don’t switch products mid-job or experiment with cheaper substitutes. Every tub gets the same proven pour-on system, applied the same way.
-
Preparation is non-negotiable. Half of a refinishing job is what happens before the coating goes on. We don’t cut prep time when the schedule gets tight.
-
Cleanup is part of the work. Masking, protection, and post-job cleanup are included — not optional add-ons. We leave the bathroom cleaner than we found it.
-
We respect older buildings. Most Chicago tubs we work on are 50+ years old, set into tiled alcoves, with original drain hardware. We know how to handle them without breaking anything.

Why Chicago Buildings Need Specialists
-
Old drain hardware. Cast-iron tubs from the 1920s–1960s often have original brass or chrome drain fittings that crack if you over-torque them. We know which ones to remove, which to coat around, and which to replace.
-
Tiled alcoves. Most Chicago tubs sit in tight three-walled tile surrounds — there’s no room to work from the back or sides. Pour-on technique matters here: you can’t reach with a spray gun without damaging tile.
-
Building rules. Co-ops, condos, and high-rises in Chicago each have their own COI requirements, freight elevator rules, and noise windows. We’ve worked through most of them./p>
-
Plumbing crossover. A refinishing job sometimes uncovers an underlying issue — a soft floor, a slow leak, an overflow that’s been improperly sealed. We don’t do plumbing, but we know when to flag it before it becomes your problem.
Materials & Warranty
We use a professional-grade two-part epoxy coating system designed specifically for bathtub refinishing — not auto paint, not industrial floor coating, not consumer-grade kit products. The system has documented safety data (SDS) and certification of authenticity available on request.
Every job comes with a 5-year warranty covering peeling, chipping, and adhesion failure under normal residential use. With proper care (no abrasive cleaners, no bath mats with suction cups left on permanently), most refinished surfaces last 7–15 years before re-coating is considered.
