Sink Reglazing (Refinishing)
Sinks in the kitchen and in the bathroom are used very often, which is why they are even more prone to damage than bathtubs. The surface of kitchen sinks is constantly scratched by utensils and sharp tools. They are damaged by the impact of not carefully handled heavy objects and they are exposed to very hot and very cold water.
In the bathroom, the surface of the sink could be damaged by heavy containers falling on it, improper maintenance or simply from long-term use. Replacing a sink with a new one is, of course, much easier than replacing a bathtub. However, anyone who has ever encountered the process of renovation knows that solving the problem does not just end at installing a new sink.
It usually makes more sense to purchase new products only during a comprehensive renovation, which involves completely updating the entire interior of the room.
If nothing like this is planned in the kitchen or bathroom, a simpler and more profitable solution would be to reglaze the surface of the sink.
Today, the best material for reglazing the surface of any plumbing ware is liquid acrylic. It is suitable for bathtubs, shower trays and sinks made of any material.
Its composition not only makes it possible to restore the surface of the ware by giving it a uniform color and smoothness, but also restores the integrity to damaged products.
Deep chips, detachments and cracks that appear from incautious usage are covered by a dense layer of acrylic.

Renovating the sink with liquid acrylic is a simple process, which, moreover, does not take much time due to the small size of the sink. After just a couple of hours of work, plus the time it takes for the material to cure, and an old, ugly sink will look brand new.
In order for the material to adhere well to the surface, and for the new coating to last for many years, a preparatory stage is necessary. To do this, the top layer of the sink is cleaned with sandpaper and cleaning powder.
This must be done carefully and methodically, without missing even the smallest areas of the sink, and paying special attention to rounded places where the walls go into the bottom. After completing this stage of work, the sink must be washed.
If everything is done correctly and with high quality, the surface looks matte and slightly rough. After cleaning, the sink is degreased and dried, after which the material is ready to be worked on.
Liquid acrylic consists of a dense polymer base with a viscous, thick consistency and a hardener, which should be added before the coating. This addition is done only after the preparatory stage.
After thoroughly mixing the material in accordance with the instructions, you can proceed to the coating. The process goes like this: from a convenient small container acrylic is poured onto the sink around the entire perimeter, starting from the top. The material will level itself, and the excess will drain into the drain hole.
Reviews
The updated sink can be used the very next day. After restoration, its surface will become uniformly white, smooth and glossy. It will be much easier to maintain it and keep the coating clean, besides, dirt will no longer linger on it and microorganisms will also not develop on it.
